Ross McGurk (College Captain in 2002) will research the application of Monte Carlo techniques to optimise radiation beam therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston - Cancer Research. Ross obtained a BSc (Hons) from the University of Canterbury in 2006 and is currently completing an MSc.
He stated that while many people measure success by money and fame, one overlooked measure of success, is being invited back to your old school to speak. Ross is stil in the US and has just finihed his first year of his PhD programme at Duke University. He states that it was a tough year but he has really enjoyed the courses and research that he is involved in.
He said that he has gained his confidence from St Thomas' due to his relationships created both in and out of the classroom. Both past pupils were presented with College Honours Ties as acknowledgement of their success. Congratulations.
